Rick Perry open to sending U.S. troops into Mexico

Perry open to sending troops to Mexico against drug cartels – CNN Political Ticker – CNN.com Blogs.

I would prefer not to get too involved in the presidential election of 2012 because all the choices out there are between bad or worse. But this one tops the chart of stupidity.

With the long historic background of American wars against Mexico – how many times have we invaded them? 3 or 4? – it be a colossal mistake to send anything other than supplies into Mexico or we risk converting the Mexican drug cartels into fronts of national liberation, up in arms against the gringo invader, with the support of the majority of the population.

We would make of the elected Mexican government a caricature of the empire of Maximilian Hapsburg, circa mid 1860’s, propped up by French troops.  The drug cartels bosses would become the equivalent of Benito Juarez  and Pancho Villa, admired patriotic leaders.

Does Perry know what the “5 de Mayo” really celebrates? He may believe it is the Mexican independence.

Perry is, in my opinion, a nut-case.  No more foreign adventures!

And he claims to be a conservative out to control the deficit but deficits are what wars create. And dead, wounded, and maimed people who then have to be taken care of for life.
