I was at Liberty Square – the new name of Zuccotti Park – yesterday afternoon. The park was so crowded that one could hardly walk through. And amid the multitude, I sensed what I would describe as random organization. The protesters have a system to manage the park and the multitude of supporters and visitors.
The police presence was moderate and overall hands-off. The park was cordoned by portable rail barriers. Amazingly, among the drums and chants and slogans shouted out loud, some of the protesters slept. They were invariably young. Only the young can sleep like that.
