Why I decided, as a candidate, to shun donations

Big Cash Edge Powers Obama In Drive for 2012 Election – NYTimes.com.

It was late Spring 2010, when I made the decisions both to run for governor of New Jersey and not to accept campaign contributions of any kind. It was not some Quixotic impulse or romantic quest but the realization that I did ought to send a loud message that money was corrupting our political system like a fast moving cancer.

I also realized that running “dry” of funds could mean defeat. But I also contemplated that even defeat could mean victory if my messages got across to the people.

I do hope Occupy Wall Street zeroes on this issue. I also hope to be the next governor of New Jersey and getting there through the moral high road.
