National test results show N.J. fourth and eighth-graders rank second-highest overall in reading nationwide | NJ.com.

This picture can be improved by working with what we have today and not by dismantling the foundations of public education as some in the administration would like to do.

Lengthening class periods, school days, and the academic year are at the core of my education plans.

Merit pay and dismantling tenure are not elements I consider desirable. Nor is transferring public resources toward private education in any guise.
