The only problem the president had with the detention provision in the NDAA was that it took too much of his discretion away – it was not any constitutional or international laws concern. As for me, this is the straw that broke the camel’s back with Obama. I rather vote for Mickey Mouse than for the president in 2012.
This is a big issue for me, personally. I lived in a police state before. It will be hypocritical to criticize any country for unlawful arrests now.
As it stands today, the only presidential candidate of the two major parties who maintains a position defending civil liberties is the Republican Ron Paul and I do hope he gets the republican nomination. If he does, he will get my vote.
